Satsang in the Midwest area began in 1978 with His Holiness Acharya 1008 Shree Tejendraprasadji Maharaj's first visit to Chicago, Illinois.

With no more than 5 families in complete submission to His Holiness Acharya Maharajshree, the vision was established to build a temple for the spiritual aspirants in the third largest city of America. The years passed on with that vision in the hearts of the growing numbers of satsangi families all over the Midwest area. Upon twenty years of His Holiness Acharya Maharajshree's first visit, the dream of building a Shikhar-bandh (Authentic domed) Swaminarayan Mandir was majestically fulfilled, with God's grace and the selfless devotion of many volunteers.

Today, the mandir is an Indian community landmark for countless families throughout the Midwest. The weekly spiritual sessions and daily sermons has left an indelible mark on the lives of many. In addition, the facilities provide an opportunity for cultural and social activities, such as weddings, fundraisers, and banquets, to be included with our auspicious Mandir aura.

The installation ceremony of the idols in the temple was celebrated in the presence of thousands of people from all over USA, UK, Australia and India with great splendor.

To this date devotees of all denominations including, Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists come for the divine darshan of Lord Swaminarayan.
